Colour goes in before the grind
Colour is added to the concrete at the pour, not to the surface afterwards. It is the first decision on the floor and the earliest conversation to have.

Colour is a pour decision
PeterFell pigment is added to the concrete mix before it is placed. On a new build that means we need to be talking before your pour date, alongside your builder and the concrete plant. On an existing slab the colour is whatever was poured, and depth of cut and level of polish become the variables.
The ranges
PeterFell offers more than eighty colours plus bespoke mixes, grouped into five ranges.
- Neutral
- The standard range, greys through warm earthen tones, poured with standard grey cement
- Gelato
- Brighter tones, requires Aalborg white cement
- Pastel
- Softer lighter tones, requires Aalborg white cement
- SuperWhite
- The whitest concrete available, requires Aalborg white cement
- SuperBlack
- PFL 699, the darkest shade concrete will go
The white cement ranges cost more and are not available from every concrete supplier, so availability has to be confirmed with the plant before the colour is specified.
Colour and stone influence each other
The finished floor is a blend of the pigment and the aggregate exposed by the grind. A colour that reads one way at natural polish reads differently at heavy exposure, because more stone and less cement is showing. Choose the two together rather than in sequence.
Sealer changes the final colour
Acrylic, epoxy and the PeterFell C2 polished system each shift the tone. A penetrating sealer deepens the colour, much like concrete looks when it is damp. The sealer is part of the colour decision, not a step that follows it.

Colour is decided in the hand
Colour renders differently on every screen, and no two screens agree. Concrete is a natural material with batch variation across cement, sand and stone. The slab will never match a swatch exactly, and a floor chosen from a photograph is a floor chosen twice.
So we work from physical samples and the PeterFell chart in person. You hold the colour at the depth you are considering, in the light of the room it is going into, before anything is poured.
The colour ranges are PeterFell's. Grinding Dynamics is an approved applicator of the PeterFell C2 Polished Concrete System, and the current ranges are published by PeterFell.
